May 2024 Fursuiter Spotlight: Azule

 Fursuiter Spotlight: Azule (Drawnfaune)

How Long Have You Been Fursuiting?
I have been fursuiting since around 2018, when I made my first one in 6th grade! But I’ve been fursuiting at conventions since April of 2024!

How did you get into fursuiting?
Watching videos on youtube! It made me very inspired and in love with the process of making and wearing suits!

What made you want to get into fursuiting?
The community, suiting looked so fun and I wanted to join in!

What got you into the furry fandom?
The art! I have always loved furry characters and it’s how I started drawing in the first place!

What Do You Enjoy Most About Fursuiting?
Getting to be a silly shark dog irl! Going around being silly and everyone seeing me as my sona is so much fun!

Is there anything you’d like to change about your suit and if so, what would you change?
I would change the quality of some of the furs, as they are not the greatest, but the design itself I love!!

What is your Favorite Memory Fursuiting?
When I brought my suit to a bowling meet for her debut in public and the power went out, leaving me in the dark just illuminated by the red exit signs, it made for some great photos!

What Does Your Suit Mean to You?
My suit just shows how much I’ve improved on my art journey over time, it shows my sewing, drawing, and design skills thriving since I started!!

May Brewer Furbowl Highlights

14 furries gathered in Brewer, Maine, for candle pin bowling on May 11th, 2024 at the Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes. Some furries from as far away as New Hampshire traveled up to share in the comradery over throwing balls down wooden planks to knock items over! The event was hosted by Novar. (Group photo taken above by Novar)

"The event went really well and I really enjoyed the time that I spent here; I'm definitely looking at coming back for the next bowl!" -Fast-fox

"I had yet another wonderful time seeing furry friends at this event! Bowling is a great way for the community to get together" - Octo Lavagator

April 2024 Fursuiter Spotlight: Tueli-Ant

 Fursuiter Spotlight: Tueli-Ant

How Long Have You Been Fursuiting? Since 2018. My first con was either PortCon or PineFurCon before the pandemic and I suited back then.

How did you get into fursuiting?

I believe I was looking at a bunch of Youtube videos and thought, “wow, that’s really cool!” I was always really into costumes and I thought, “I guess I’m doing this with the rest of my life now.” Before that, it was mostly amateur costume making with duct tape and gluing it together but over time I decided to try to make it look nicer.

What got you into the furry fandom?

There are a lot of factors that played into that. At first, I was into Wildkrats and the idea of turning into an animal was really cool. Youtube was also a big inspiration with creators making animation meme videos that got me into the fandom.

Can you tell me about the process of making your fursuit?

With him (ant), it was a little bit of a struggle as I got minky that was stretchy and that was an issue. Overall, it was really fun to make and it was fun to see how to make a bug fursuit for the first time. In making a bug suit, since they have exoskeletons, I wanted to show off how the joints come together so I used segments of just minky and just fur to make differences visibly. For his antennas, I originally had them as foam but when I was furring them, it was really difficult to put the fleece over it and then I put wiring on instead. I’m really trying to show texture on my creations so I wanted to experiment more with this suit.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Fursuiting?

Getting to interact with other fursuiters and other people is a lot of fun. It’s great to be someone I can’t be normally. Normally, I’d be really tired but this allows me to be off the walls.

Is there anything you’d like to change about your suit and if so, what would you change?
If there was anything I could change, there’s definitely a lot of flaws but right now, I’d just change up the antennas to make them more study as they lose their durability after a little while at the moment.

What is your Favorite Memory Fursuiting?

It would have to be last year at Furcationland (2023) when I made my first full fursuit. Just being able to do that for the first time as a character I had a lot of connection to and people loving it, it meant the world to me, honestly.

Is There Any Lore to Your Fursuit/Sona?

With my ant, I don’t have as much lore as my other characters as he’s my most recent character. A lot of people, especially bug enthusiasts, tell me he’s a wasp but he’s an ant with red velvet DNA, which is a wasp, but he is a hybrid so he’s still more ant than wasp.

What Does Your Suit Mean to You?

My suit is a statement through the fandom where it’s like, this is who I am and not everyone has to be a dog. (No offense to canine suiters!)

March Portland Furbowl Highlights

Around 17 furries braved the late March winter storm on March 24th, 2024 to go to Spare Time Entertainment in Portland to enjoy an evening of bowling. The event was hosted and funded by Luminous Limulus for the benefit of the Maine furry community. There may have been some minor issues (such as the electricity going out) but that didn't stop the ones from coming out to have a good time! Here's to coming warmer weather!

"The real highlight I'd say was being able to be around everyone; mingle, have fun, and participate in fursuit antics" -Caddy

"It was fun meeting new locals and talking to everyone and seeing some Southern Maine Furs I hadn't seen since Anthro New England, like Lordy and Everest" -Roki

"I enjoyed being able to be with everyone. Walking up the accessible ramp with my friend, paw and hand, was nice. I liked being able to dance with my friend, Nocturne, too" -Kaiser

March Fursuiter Spotlight: Roki

How Long Have You Been Fursuiting?

I have been suiting since September of 2023

How did you get into fursuiting?

It was actually Kai who bought a partial suit at PineFurCon and put it up for sale and I jumped on it.

What made you want to get into fursuiting?

It just looked super fun and I get to be a big red dog and bark at people. I get to have fun in a way that I can’t have when I’m just a normal human.

What got you into the furry fandom?

I remember Bash and I back when we first started dating and he mentioned it and it just developed over time. The big thing that did it was Etsy having line bases for sonas and then I got one and modified it for Roki.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Fursuiting?

It’s just dumb fun to run around and interact as a big dog guy thing. It’s fun to be able to be silly and not have to worry about it.

Is there anything you’d like to change about your suit and if so, what would you change?

Nothing. I like it how it is, honestly. It was missing feet paws and arm paws, but I have those now. I could get a body suit, but I’m happy the way it is and I’m grateful for having it. I wish I knew who made it, though, as I got it second hand.

What is your Favorite Memory Fursuiting?

Probably just hanging out with friends at Anthro New England and being able to be with everyone and interact and let loose to have fun. Being in Boston, in a foreign environment [for me], as well sort of helped. It was almost like disassociating by being in a different environment and being able to really have fun and not worry about it.

Is There Any Lore to Your Fursuit/Sona?

A lot of people think that my fursuit name is Roki, but it’s actually Moyer. When my friend Kai sold it to me, I misunderstood the name and thought it was Moyer and it just stuck. It was by accident how I got his name but I like it.

What Does Your Suit Mean to You?

Moyer is the other side to me that I don’t get to be otherwise. He’s the more relaxed and fun side that’s more carefree.
